Wilderness Safaris is proud to announce that Mombo Camp (including Little Mombo) has been named the fifth best hotel in Africa and the Middle East for Families in the US Travel + Leisure 2014 World’s Best Awards.
“In today’s hectic world, we believe that time out with family is invaluable, which is why we put such emphasis on ensuring our camps and experiences appeal to travellers of all ages. We are honoured that guests and readers of US Travel + Leisure voted for us amongst Africa’s most family-friendly properties and look forward to continuing to provide opportunities for parents and children to reconnect while exploring some of the most pristine areas in Africa”, says Grant Woodrow, MD of Wilderness Safaris Botswana.
Mombo and Little Mombo, located on Chief’s Island within Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta, are well suited to families with older children, with both camps offering a thoughtfully designed Bush Buddy activity programme that makes the most of the surrounding environment. In addition, Little Mombo comprises just three spacious and luxurious tents, making it the perfect choice for multigenerational family groups of up to six guests, who have the option of booking the entire camp for their exclusive use.
Wilderness Safaris also operates several Botswana camps that cater exceptionally well for families with younger children (between the ages of 6 and 12) such as Seba, Vumbura Plains, Little Vumbura, Xigera, Kings Pool, DumaTau, Savuti, and Chitabe Lediba. On request, a dedicated and highly trained Bush Buddy can join families at each of these camps, where they will be mentor and friend of the children whenever needed for the duration of their stay. In addition, all of these camps include family tents, so that parents can sleep near their children without everyone being cramped in one room.
Representing the best in travel, the annual World’s Best Awards are based on Travel + Leisure readers’ ratings of hotels, destinations and companies around the globe. The results for the Best Africa and Middle East Hotels for Families have been published in the magazine’s November issue.
