Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort, Kota Kinabalu recently made it to the top 20 list for the Condé Nast Readers’ Travel Awards 2014.
Competing against hundreds of hotels in the Asia and India category, Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort, Kota Kinabalu is the only hotel in Borneo, the only Shangri-La hotel and one of three hotels in Malaysia to make it on to the list.
According to the resort’s general manager, Mr Bruno Cristol, this achievement is a testament to the resort’s position as the best hotel in Kota Kinabalu, especially after winning several accolades, such as the Sabah Tourism Award 2012/13 for Excellence in Hotel Services and Tourism Malaysia Awards 2012/13 for the Jury’s Award for Best Service Hotel (five-star resort), ranking number one hotel in Kota Kinabalu on TripAdvisor and other notable achievements.
“Everyone at the resort deserves a pat on their back for making it to the list. This goes to show the team’s passion and commitment in providing the best experience to all of our guests! It is also an opportune time for the resort to be in the top 20 best hotels in Asia and India, especially with the new changes that are expected to happen in the first quarter of next year,” Mr Cristol said, referring to the unveiling of the additional 83 new 90-square-metre rooms with balconies featuring an oversized bath tub and an Italian restaurant at the resort’s premier wing, the Ocean Wing, which caters to high-end travellers.
Other factors that contributed to this achievement, aside from the impeccable service and genuine Sabahan hospitality, are its facilities. The resort’s Garden Wing section that mainly caters to travellers with families recently completed its refurbishment work and now sports a new look in all guestrooms and other public areas. The refurbishment and renovation works were also extended to the resort’s Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club for a more relaxed feel at its bar and dining area and function rooms.
