Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts announced the launch of exciting new brand, Hotel Jen, in August this year, which will involve the rebranding of Traders Hotels. The first hotel to launch was Hotel Jen Orchardgateway in Singapore (a new property), and now two more hotels in Singapore and Hong Kong have been rebranded.

Traders Hotel Cuscaden Road in Singapore was the first Traders property to rebrand globally on 25 September 2014, and is now known as Hotel Jen Singapore. Following the recent launch of Hotel Jen Orchardgateway Singapore, this brings the number of Hotel Jen room keys in Singapore to over 1,000, catering to a new ‘Jeneration’ of independently minded business and leisure travellers.

Greg Dogan, president and CEO of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, said: “The rebrand of Traders Hotel Singapore to Hotel Jen Singapore is the next significant milestone in our plans to launch Hotel Jen across the region, starting in Singapore. What is so unique to this hotel is its staff, whose unparalleled local knowledge is reflective of the property’s 19 year heritage. True to the new brand, the Hotel Jen Singapore team are embracing the changing demands of today’s more independently minded travellers; who seek simple pleasures, easy efficiencies and the opportunity to indulge their sense of adventure.”

The physical renovation of Hotel Jen Singapore will start in November 2014, as part of a carefully planned three-phase approach scheduled to finish early in 2016. All Hotel Jen Singapore staff will retain their positions during the renovation process and the hotel will remain open. The renovation will focus on enhancing the guest experience at every touch point, designed with today’s evolving traveller requirements in mind. Rooms will feature modern, interchangeable, apartment-style furnishings that optimise the space – such as a bay window sofa with moveable table which can be used for work or relaxation. All rooms will be equipped with smart technology including interactive TVs with multi-device enabled streaming and in-room check-out.
Ahead of any physical updates, Hotel Jen Singapore is building on its existing heritage and the staff’s local knowledge to deliver the new brand to guests. Embracing the concept of ‘staying with a friend’, guests will notice the extra touches from a home-cooking inspired restaurant menu inviting guests to request their own version of a dish, to handwritten notes from the staff.

An informed and friendly service style will allow guests to discover the best of where they are through unique recommendations, from new boutiques to finding the best local chili crab. The Hotel Jen team will be a guest’s own personal local lifestyle guides, making them truly feel like they are staying with a friend.
